Sunday Run – Drought Relief – September 2018
Sunday 9th September
A suggestion was made by one of the members, Don MacTaggart, to have a fundraiser to go towards Drought Relief for the Australian Farmers.
On Sunday 9th September, 6 cars assembled at the clubhouse & headed into the Hinterland to Bochow Park at Numinbah for morning tea. Heinz & Meike’s dog Diamond had a wonderful time with some children with a huge ball to chase. Continuing into NSW, the cars travelled back to the clubhouse through Tomewin & Tallebudgera Valley.
On arrival, more members had arrived to enjoy a hot lunch plus delicious desserts provided by all the ladies. A considerable amount of money was raised for Drought Relief. People who couldn’t attend also donated funds to the good cause. A lovely way to spent a beautiful spring day enjoying great camaraderie with fellow club members while helping the drought stricken farmers.
Gaven State School Visit – August 2018
Friday 17th August
Gaven State School have requested an older style vehicle to display so the students could walk around it and study the differences between older technology and what is being produced these days. David Mitchell stepped to the fore with his 1950 Vauxhall Velox Tourer.
Teacher Victoria Robinson had organised David to drive the Vauxhall onto the school oval for the pupils (mainly Grade 2 children). He was expecting 30 children but was quite surprised to find that there was about 100 children present with some of them & the teachers dressed in period costume.
Many photos were taken with pupils and teachers around the car (as seen below). It was a great morning enjoyed by all and the children appreciated having the old car there.
Seniors Day Car Display at the Heritage Museum – August 2018
Thursday 23rd August
Seniors Day Car Display was held at the Gold Coast Heritage Museum, Mudgeeraba for Seniors Week. Fantastic display of the cars plus a couple from the Automobile Restorers Association. Sausage sizzle lunch was organised for participating members. It was a enjoyable day for everyone involved.
NRVVCC Lismore Rally Weekend – August 2018
Friday 17th – Sunday 19th August
A wonderful weekend of camaraderie with fellow club members at the NRVVCC annual rally. Thirteen members of GCAAC attended which meant they were the best represented visiting club.
Saturday morning after having morning tea at the showgrounds markets, the clubs travelled south through picturesque countryside to Tregeagle Hall for lunch. Wonderful instructions with photos of signs on rally sheet, which were easy to find. Continuing back to Lismore dinner was at South Lismore Bowling Club.
On Sunday for something different, the clubs travelled north of Lismore to Corndale Hall for morning tea & then through Clunes, Eltham & Titenbar areas with wonderful picturesque scenery to Lismore Heights Bowls Club for lunch.
Visit to Aged Care Centre Coombabah – August 2018
Saturday 4th August
Club members were invited to go to the Aged Care Centre at Paradise Lakes in Coombabah. They were joined by 4 other clubs – Morris Minors, Mini Owners, Austin Healy & Automobile Restorers Clubs. The elderly residents enjoyed looking at & reminiscing about the 40 cars on display while being entertained with the live music, sausage sizzle & raffles.
President’s Run – July 2018
Sunday 8th July
On Sunday 8th July, 29 members in 17 cars assembled at the clubhouse for the President’s Run. After travelling through the Gilston and the scenic Beechmont areas, the morning tea stop was at Lions Park at Canungra.
Continuing along the Beaudesert Nerang Road, the club members then headed north towards Mt Warren Park & Beenleigh. After crossing the M1, the club meandered around the cane fields in Stapylton Jacobs Well area (including a little bit of gravel road). Finally arriving at the Gem Hotel at Alberton where everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch.
It was great to see the club’s new prospective members Phil & Jean enjoying their first outing in their 1937 Morris 8 Tourer. It was an enjoyable day as many people getting their cars out of the shed on a lovely winter’s day.
Mudgeeraba Show – June 2018

The club showcased some of the members’ cars for display at the 90th Annual Mudgeeraba Agricultural Show.
Tweed Valley Vehicle Restorers Club Invitation Rally – May 2018
Saturday 5th – Sunday 6th May
Tweed Valley Vehicle Restorers Club hosted their 33rd invitation rally as a 2 days event. Great drive to places have not seen before, great food and best of all making new and meeting some old friends.

A combined run with the Gold Coast MG Car Club and the Automobile Restorers Association Gold Coast which involved BYO morning tea & then lunch at Beaudesert RSL.
